Assess Reading Strategies with a Simple Rubric
If your students record their thinking about the text they are reading in a reader’s notebook, you may find it easier to use a rubric to assess their understanding of reading strategies. I would copy the rubric and highlight the parts of the rubric the student demonstrates, write a note (written feedback), and tape it into their notebook. You can also adjust it to make a four point rubric. This feedback is valuable to the student and provides great documentation for report cards! Reading Strategies Rubric
- Includes: Sentence Prompt, Student´s Name, Strategy
- Thought logically completes the prompt
