Why I Write

Teaching Life

I know it is really important to write so that I can be a better writing teacher.  So often I have said to my students, "I know how intimidating a blank page is, writing is really challenging - that's why Hollywood writers get paid so much ;-)."  So here I am looking at this blank blog.  I've had my sight set on blogging for a year now, and today I'm feeling fierce enough to write.  Great so, am I finished?

In order to further my goal, I joined the Teach Write Tribe, a group of teachers dedicated to writing in order to be better writing teachers. My friend Jennifer runs the group and she is one of the best writing teachers I’ve ever worked with. She’s passionate, she’s driven, and she is honest.  She inspires me to write. If you are looking for a community or improve your writing habits. Check out Teach Write and join their community!

I joined their summer writing group so that I would write more often.  However, when I sat down with the group today to write I literally brought with me a million things I could write about – they ranged from book descriptions that I needed to translate into English, to informational writing for my teacher resources, and reflections on my school year working with teachers. So, I dug into my teacher bucket and thought about what’s my purpose and who is my audience.

My purpose for writing is to share information with my audience (these are also the main topics for Books del Sur’s webpage:

Who is my audience?

The Books del Sur community – which include teachers, administrators, librarians, and parents that are all dedicated to multilingualism.

If you are not included in this list of people or would like information that we are not sharing. Please comment below. We want to support you and our community!

Together we are better!
