Gulliver

Gulliver's Travels was published for the first time in 1726. Its author, the Irishman Jonathan Swift, tells the exciting adventures of an English doctor who decides to cross great seas and discover extraordinary worlds.

While the original book recounts four of Gulliver's journeys to strange lands, here his experiences are told in the fascinating Lilliput, where beings are so tiny that he is a giant, and Brobdingnag, where everything is monstrously large and he lives in constant danger.

This detailed account of travel adventures, which fascinates both children and adults, was a success from its first publication. The story also inspired dozens of literary adaptations and was made into a film several times. It is believed that the author wanted, through his stories, to provide an ironic criticism of the European society of his time. Analysts consider that, in each travel story, Swift details different weaknesses and shortcomings of the world in which he lived.
