The protagonist of this novel is insulin dependent and has to grow and learn to deal with her reality and the care of her diabetes. There are times when this is difficult and feels different. However, when embarking on an adventure with her neighbors: a Chinese girl whose parents do not speak Spanish, and a boy in charge of her house because her mother suffers from depression, discovers the values that unite her with the world around her.
